In 2015, Kijiji launched a new app called Flook in the Vancouver market with the goal of gaining a more significant foothold for the brand in Western Canada. Tasked with generating media buzz and encouraging consumer downloads of the app, Citizen identified, negotiated, planned and executed an exclusive event sponsorship opportunity with local organization, Hawkers Market. The result was Hawkerfest.
What we did
Hawkerfest brought an eclectic mix of artisans, craftspeople, food vendors and food trucks together under one roof, to provide a cultivated consumer experience sponsored by Flook. For freee entry into the bustling marketplace, guests were simply asked to download the app to their Android or iOS phone.
Over the two days that Hawkerfest was live, more than 1,900 attendees walked through the doors resulting in a total of 1,023 app downloads. Traditional media coverage of the event included notable pieces from publications like The Globe and Mail, Vancity Buzz and Westender, for a total reach of nearly 8 million impressions.
